“Amaka & Fia, tell us a little about yourself?”

Amaka: "We’re born and raised in a small village in the south of the Netherlands where we lived with our dearest mom. We both moved to the city at quite a young age; I think we were looking for more adventure, we love to meet new people and to discover the unknown. We’re both very easy-going and we’re always positive about life and what the future may bring. The glass is always half full – never half empty. One of the most valuable things is that we can always motivate eachother, turn our heads in the right direction when someone’s feeling down."

Fia: "I’m Fia and I’m a twenty-something girl and living in Amsterdam. I moved 4 years ago, and don’t see me moving away from Amsterdam any time soon."

“How did you both become involved in the world of content creation?”

Amaka: "I remember spending hours and hours on Instagram and Pinterest, looking at all sorts of pretty profiles and pictures. I saw a lot of fashion accounts and I got inspired to start my own. Back then I didn’t know anyone who was into it as well, so my boyfriend helped me taking photo’s. Now that we both live really close together in Amsterdam, we can get creative together. We both have different styles but that’s the fun part of it."

Fia: "Actually I think for me it all started with my job in fashion. I’m producing a lot of shoots and did some styling. I always had my own outspoken (back than super cool) style back in high school. And I found out that I like to inspire people to find their own style and wear whatever they want."

“Where do you find inspiration?”

Amaka: "From all sorts of accounts on Instagram, from little personal accounts to the biggest & popular (high fashion) brands. But also in vintage shops, in movies, in books & magazines."

Fia: "I find a lot of inspiration on Instagram and from big designers. When there is a fashion week I’m on it and watching every look and show."

“What does sisterhood mean to you?”

Amaka: "To me, having a sisters is like having a best friend with an extra dimension. We have a very honest, special, deep and loving relationship. We can say absolutely anything to eachother, without having to worry about if it sounds wrong or weird."

Fia: "For me sisterhood means that you will always have a friend. I think we didn’t wanted to admit it when we were in puberty, but we are friends (right Amaka? hahaha). She’s like the first one I call when I’m having an -over reacting- break down or need some quick advice. Since we don’t have much difference in age it’s also helpful that you are in the same time of your life. Taking your career to the next level, moving in with your boyfriend etc. It’s nice to share those moments together."

“We love getting lost in new artists and spotify playlists, what are you currently playing on repeat?”

Amaka: "I must say, Fia always finds the best songs. Her music taste is so good! Very original and special. She used to write her own songs when she was a little girl, super cute!! So I prefer her playlist above mine haha!"

Fia: "Yes perfect, because I do listen a lot to music. I love to discover new songs and put them on repeat until my boyfriend absolutely goes crazy. I've added my latest favourites into a playlist for you so this is the link. I’m a bit nervous to share because it’s so personal but I would recommend listing to: Black Pumas - colours + Michael Kiwanuka - You Ain’t The Problem and my favourite summer song: Portico Quartet- Prickly Pear."

“Next stop on your summer travels”

Amaka: "I’ve spent 9 days on the beautiful island Mallorca with my boyfriend. We didn’t do much and that was exactly what we needed. We went to the beach, we’ve been lying in the sun and we ate yummy food. Fia and I have also been enjoying some really nice weekends at our mom’s place with both our boyfriends and Kees the dog. She has a big garden which is perfect for these summer evenings. This current situation really made me appreciate the simple places like home more and more."

Fia: "This year we choose to stay closer to home. We’ve been to France for a few days but mostly we are planning small trips into Dutch nature. Cooking your own meal on a fire and making long walks with my dog. I’m still looking for the cutest cottage to rent in September... Fingers crossed for some nice weather."

“What is your favourite quote?”

Amaka: “You only are free when you realize you belong no place – you belong every place – no place at all” - Maya Angelou

Fia: “Rest if you must, but don’t you quit” - John Greenleaf Whittier (1807 - 1892). I got this tattooed on my legs when I was 18 (such a rebel I know haha). But I think this is really my life quote. It’s from a poem, that if you want you should read. For me it’s about knowing that things won’t always be easy, but that if you just throw in the towel you will never get where you want to be. So basically never quit, and celebrate every little victory. Life’s good:)))

“What is your favourite piece from this collection and why?”

Amaka: "My fav piece is the Gianna Midi Dress Carrie Floral print. I love dresses- midi maxi- everything! When I look at it it tells a story: a soft, warm, and long summer evening translated in a dress."

Fia: "My favourite style is the Bronte Midi Dress Grey Graden Floral. The colours are so beautiful. Everybody who knows me knows I’m a big fan of midi and maxi dresses and colour. So I think we are a match made in heaven. ps. the matching bucket hat is definitely a must too."
