Introducing SUMMER MOMENTS: Volume 1.
Showcasing the lives of four creatives, each with their own story to tell, discovering the essence of Summer and what it means and looks like to them. New York based creative and stylist Alexis Badiyi is captured in the city by photographer Anna Ritsch.
Hi I’m Alexis, I am a stylist and creative based in New York.
My background is in textiles and trend forecasting however styling has always been an expression for me. I left my corporate background and took the plunge into New York freelance and never looked back. I would recommend assisting as much as you can in the beginning and spend time creating and developing your work.
I do miss having more access to nature, that is my favorite part of Los Angeles. However even after 12 years, New York still feels like a homecoming. I came here often as a child to visit family.
Summer nights in New York, there isn't anything quite like it..
This summer I've been enjoying long walks in this beautiful weather. Finding comfortable shoes and light bags for endless days in the sun has been a focus. I'm also continuing to build my silver jewelry collection. I love the way it sparkles against my tan skin during these months.
A few accessories that have become staples are: Margiela Tabis, Fendi Baguette, (Vintage) Agmes Cuff, Gemsun Belt.
I get inspiration from films, archival fashion online or at the library, getting out of the house a little for some people watching and popping into some shops.
I love both vintage and new pieces. Some of my favorite NYC based shops are: Ending Soon, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Kallmeyer, Lara Koleji, Gemsun, Haus Label, Colbo, James Valoria, Sincerely Tommy.
That is a hard question to answer in a city like this, If I had to choose three I would say: Altro Paradiso, Via Carota, Lodi ( after the Moma) Saraghina Caffe (after a day at the park), Orsay, and honorable mention would be a friend’s roof or yard for an intimate sunset dinner.
Fort Greene Park.
The smell of fresh grass, the feeling of the sun on my skin, blisters on my feet, freckles on my nose.
